Pilot of the First Hot Air Balloon Flight on November 30, 1784

1785 Print: “JEAN PIERRE BLANCHARD,” By J. Sewell, London, England, Choice Very Fine.
6.25” x 4.5” uncolored oval portrait on fine-laid paper, 8.25” x 5.2” overall size--probably clipped from a publication. A very crisp, dark portrait of Jean-Pierre Blanchard who, along with John Jeffries, made the first hot air balloon flight on November 30, 1784, from Rhedarium Garden, London. Blanchard and Jeffries were also the first to fly across the English Channel. Very lightly toned paper with minor foxing.
