Views of the South Pacific

c. 1781, 4 Prints relating to the Voyages of Captain James Cook in the South Pacific, Choice Very Fine to Extremely Fine.
Published in London by Alexander Hogg for use as illustrations in books describing Capt. James Cook’s voyages. Each print is disbound and measures approximately 9.5" x 14.5" overall. The general condition is excellent, with exceptions noted below. In most cases, a proper matting will suffice to turn these into dramatic display pieces. The following titles are included:
1. A View of Christmas Harbour in Kerguelen’s Land, with the manner of killing Penguins, a representation of a Seal, &c. Tight on the right and bottom edges, also toned in those areas, but this is a truly great scene. The penguins were so tame that all the men had to do was walk up to them and hit them on the head with a stick!
2. A View in Possession Bay in the Island of South Georgia. A nice, quality map.
3. A View in the Christmas Sound, Tierra del Fuego. Lightly toned; otherwise, problem-free.
4. Mr. Banks receiving a Visit from the King of Duke of York’s Island / View of a Perforated Rock, in Tolaga Bay / View of A Town in the Island of Tierra del Fuego. Trimmed unevenly on the right edge.
