c. 1781, Print “Gonzalo Pizarro Beheaded at Cuzco", Choice Very Fine.
Overall size 14.25" x 9.25" (the actual printed area is smaller). Published in London by Alexander Hogg for use as an illustration in a book. Pizarro is on his knees whilst the executioner’s sword is poised to strike. Pizarro was a Spanish conquistador and brother of Francisco Pizzaro. He led a successful revolt in South America against the new viceroy, Blasco Nœ–ez Vela, but lost a later battle, surrendered, and gave up his head.
