Human Sacrifice c. 1781, Print “A Human Sacrifice, in A Morai, in Otaheite; -- in the presence of Captn. Cook, & c.", Very Fine. Overall size 9.5" x 14.75". Published in London by Alexander Hogg for use as an illustration in a book describing the voyages of English explorer Captain James Cook. A rather shocking image of a man, presumably dead, laying on the ground, bound to a staff. Cook and his men look on in apparent horror. In the background, numerous skulls adorn a wall.
