Scarce Liverpool Pitcher in Excellent Condition

c. 1800, LIVERPOOL PITCHER, “WINE CANNOT CURE THE PAIN I ENDURE FOR MY CHLOE,” Choice Extremely Fine.
7” high, 4.5” wide at base. Exquisite scenes depicted on both sides of this white ceramic pitcher, which features three men and a woman drinking and toasting each other, and another scene of a young man playing a flute for the attention of a young lady. Both scenes have verses written beneath them, with the main image being dedicated to this forlorn drinker’s unrequited love for “Chloe.” Wording is slightly lighter along bottom right edge of verses. A top quality example.
