Outstanding Early Patriotic “American Bear” Toy Doll

c. 1876, Patriotic American Bear Toy Doll, 7" Tall x 4" Wide, Choice Very Fine.
Imagine using the cloth of a c. 1876 red, white and blue pattern Centennial era coverlet and creating a wonderful, Folk Art stylized bear doll as a toy for a beloved child. Being creative, the legs and paws are able to be moved into different “up and down” positions. There is no maker name or date, but the bear speaks well for itself. The eyes and nose are of simple white thread. A lovely example crossing between many areas of collecting and just as cute today as over 125 years ago!
