WWII Hand Carved Polish General Statue

Sign In to see what this sold for

Carved from one solid piece of wood, the General is Wladyslaw Sikorski, (He was Prime Minister of The Republic of Poland from Sept. 30, 1939 thru July 4, 1943). He was known as a Polish military and political leader, he fought with distinction in the Polish Legions during the first WW, he also fought in the newly created Polish Army during the Polish Soviet War from 1919 - 1921 and later played a prominent role in the decisive battle of Warsaw. During WWII, he became Prime Minister of The Polish Government in exile. General Sikorski was killed in a plane crash in July of 1943, the exact circumstances of his death remain in dispute. The carving itself is very detailed and shows a good likeness, also includes his military decorations, which are highlighted in silver and gold paint, the statue of General Sikorski has a wooden base as part of the sculpture with a titled front, 9" H. Condition: The statue shows minor wear from previously handling consistent with its age, there maybe a small medallion missing from the top center of his hat brim, but there is no other damage found.
