Haxby MA-170-G20. PRF-R5. A high denomination Proof from Baldwin, Adams & Co. The vignette at the upper left is the firing of a rescue line to a distressed ship at sea. This scene appears on a only a few very rare notes. Extra wide margin at the top; a bit unevenly trimmed along the bottom. Stamped on the back of the card by the ABNCo. prior to the Archive sale in 1990, with strong see-through to the front. This is a very rare and desirable proof with many fine attributes, besides the $500 denomination. In our December 2002 sale, we sold a Gem India Paper Proof on Card for just under $1,500!
