Antique Oil Painting on canvas Artist as Yet unidentified. Exquisitely executed work remaining in excellent condition. Scene depicts and old man working at a bench beside a cottage door while a woman carrying a bundle of reeds on her back approaches. The posture of the woman tells us she is exhausted. A cart driven by a young boy is being pulled by a team of horses. The artist captured the musculature of the horses with tremendous accuracy. Various chickens roam the yard while pigeons come to roost near an opening at the peak of the roof. The gilded gesso frame looks to be original. Sight size 23 1/2" x 34". Overall 27" 38" .
