Philip Jakob de Loutherbourg Original Oil Painting on canvas, Landscape with figures herding sheep and cattle away from a watering hole. There is a large building / castle in the distance. The painting exhibits fantastic detail much of which is obscured by a dark layer of varnish / surface dirt covering the painting. No apparent restoration. Overall tight crazing. Partial signature on front. Name and inscription on reverse. Philip Jakob de Loutherbourg (b. 1740 d. 1812). The gilt gesso frame is a 19th c. replacement. Sight Size: 13 1/4"h x 18"w Overall: 23 1/4"h x 27 3/4"w
