N.R. Brewer Original Signed Franklin D. Roosevelt Oil Painting on Canvas, nearly full length portrait. Dated 1934 and painted in the White House during Roosevelt's first year of any eventual four terms as President of the United States. This is a very powerful portrait of the President standing beside a chair. Interesting pose as he was paralyzed from the waist down. It was important for Roosevelt not to show any signs of weakness especially as he was battling the Great Depression as well as political foes and his illness at the time. When viewing this truly magnificent portrait, I am reminded of Franklin Roosevelt's immortal words "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself". He came to be the most revered Democratic President the United States has known. Sight size 55 3/4" h x 41 3/4"w. Overall 63"h x 49" w.
