Photographsc. 1869, Vintage Albumen Photograph of Alexandria, Egypt by “Langaki,” Choice Very Fine.
8.5” x 10.75” sepia-toned image on original mount, 13.25” x 17.5”. Signed and captioned in the negative by “Langaki”: “No 500 Alexandria Vue du Nil a Mouharim.” Langaki, or Zangaki as he was sometimes known, worked independently in Egypt during the 1860s, then formed a partnership with “Arnoux” around 1880. A stunningly sharp photo with minor fading, foxing to mount, and wear to corners. Still very suitable for matting and framing.
