Trumpet Fish Fossil, “Centriscus strigatus” from the Messinian stage of the Miocene Epoch. 3.75” x 6” x .5”. A nicely preserved and detailed fossil found in the Marecchia River at Rimini in Northern Italy. The Miocene was the fourth epoch of the Tertiary period, marked by the appearance of modern flora, primitive apes, whales, and grazing animals.
