Carved Indian Pipe with Bear Effigy and Northwest Indian Scrimshaw Northwest Indian Pipe with Bear Effigy and Scrimshaw, Choice Very Fine. Beautiful, red-brown catlinite pipe, 7” long, and 3.5” tall, with smooth, carved features, including a 2” long bear, and triangular scrimshaw markings on either side of the pipe shaft. The well-used pipe has few imperfections, and is marked “Red Elk” on the bottom of the shaft. This rich, brownish rock material is in wonderful condition, weighs nearly 2 pounds, and fits easily into the palm of your hand. ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
