Powder Horns
Powderhorn with “American Eagle Shield” Scrimshaw

c. 1840, Hand-Engraved Powderhorn with “American Eagle Shield” Scrimshaw, Choice Extremely Fine.
8” long, light brown-colored, with white highlights. Wooden base still intact with bone filler plug. Scrimshaw is rather crudely done, most likely with a knife by a soldier of the era--mostly likely from the 1840s. Still, it is interesting and attractive in its own way.
