Maps 1772, NOUVELLE REPRESENTATION DES COTES NORD ET EST DE L’ASIE..., by Robert De Vaugondy, Paris, Very Fine. 11.5” x 15”, uncolored, copper-engraved map with two large insets, which are alternate representations of the Kamchatka region. Their purpose is to clarify the articles in the “Encyclopedie” supplement concerning the northern passage to India. Wagner, N.W. Coast, 637 -- Plate from the atlas volume of Diderot’s “Encyclopedie.” Offset, which occurred during printing, and uneven left border, otherwise fine.
