A lady's platinum, diamond and sapphire cocktail ring evaluated as a 6.788 gram 10% iridium and platinum right hand dress ring, circa 1930, partial sizing bar in shank. It contains 12 channel set caliber sapphires in 3 platinum sections. These stones show a bright, rich and lovely blue color; all are heavily abraded on their crowns, and they vary from about 1.6mm diameter to 3mm diameter. The top also contains 17 bead set round brilliant cut diamonds, measuring from 1.4mm to 2.5mm, total weight about .50 carat, 2 European cut diamonds, from 3.2mm to 3.3mm, total weight about .25 carat (the end stone is chipped in two places on its girdle), and one prong set round brilliant cut diamonds, measuring about 6mm by 3.6mm, weight about .79 carat, 55% table, medium culet, knife edge to thin girdle, containing a small open cavity or chip and one small feather, inert fluorescence (LW), HI color and VS1-2 clarity (severely abraded crown facet junctions along with small markings on the girdle). The balanced of the smaller diamonds average H color and SI-1 clarity, and the two European cut diamonds average SI-2 clarity. Retail Value by Tom Tivol Appraisals is $ 7500.
