A rare Model 1927 Shashka, the hilt with finely worked and heavily gilt mounts, black-lacquered ribbed grip, the pommel set with the enameled silver badge of the Order of the Red Banner and original sword knot. The single-edged blade with broad fuller retains its original bright polish and is inscribed in Russian in gold Cyrillic characters :To the Outstanding Soldier of the Worker's and Peasant's Red Army From the Central Executive Committee:, enclosed in a heavily gilded cartouche bordered in vegetal motifs and the Soviet crest. Marked at the right forte with Cyrillic characters and numerals and at the left forte :Zlatoust Arms Factory: around a hammer and sickle and dated :1931:. Scabbard mounted en suite with the hilt. Only a small number of these presentation swords was ever produced. 1930s. Very slight wear to gilded cartouche on blade and sword knot. 98.5 cm overall length in scabbard. Condition I
