(John McAllister Schofield, Union hero of the Civil War, Superintendent of West Point, Secretary of War, Commander of the Army, and the man for whom Schofield Barracks were named in Hawaii, buried in Arlington National Cemetary), written by members of the Conservative Candidates of an election held in Richmond, Virginia at the end of the Civil War (1867), protesting the undue lag in closing of the polls. Undated, ink and writing very clear, minor insect damage.
