Oliver Wolcott, Jr. (1760-1833) Politician. Wolcott served as Secretary of the Treasury from 1795 to 1800 and governor of Connecticut from 1817 to 1827. 6 ½" x 3 ½" pay order, signed, Comptroller's Office, April 28, 1789, directing payment to Philip Mortimer of one pound. There is a circular cancellation hole that touches the signature.
