Solomon Van Rensselaer (1774-1852) Politician. Van Rensselaer was an adjutant general of the state militia and served in the War of 1812 as lieutenant colonel of the New York Volunteers. He was elected as a Federalist to the Sixteenth and Seventeenth United States Congresses, and served from 1819 to 1822. 8" x 10" autograph letter signed, Washington, January 31, 1821, to J. V. N.
