Description
John Taylor Gilman (1753-1828) Statesman. Gilman represented New Hampshire in the Continental Congress in 1782-1783 and was Governor of New Hampshire for fourteen years and John Langdon (1741–1819) American political leader. Langdon was a delegate to the Continental Congress in 1775. During the Revolution he saw action at Bennington and Saratoga. After the war he was president of New Hampshire. Langdon was a delegate to the U.S. Constitutional Convention, and it was largely through his efforts that New Hampshire ratified the Constitution as the ninth state. 14" x 12" partially printed document signed, New Hampshire, June 13, 1801. The document is an appointment of Jabez James as a major in the New Hampshire State Militia. The document has been subsequently signed by John Langdon, upon James' resignation. Some staining in the upper fold, age toning and framed.
