Description
Franklin Pierce (1804-1869) 14th President. 8" x 9 ¾" autograph letter signed, three pages, North Hampton, August 22, 1864, to his sister-in-law. "…I think of you and your dearest sister I suppose every waking hour – always with…gratitude. Sometimes with many tears, when I am alone, which come gushing up…." Jane Means Appleton Pierce had died the preceding March after a particularly tragic ten year period. There are two ¾" stains on the last page, otherwise very good condition.
