(James Garfield) (1831-1881) 20th President. 6 ¼" x 8" black bordered, printed broadside, "THE LAST BULLETIN, Elberon, N.J., Sept. 19, 11.30 P. M. The President died at 10.35. After the bulletin was issued at half-past five this evening, the President continued in much the same condition as during the afternoon, the pulse varying from 102 to 106…he fell into a quiet sleep about thirty-five minutes before his death…At ten minutes after ten o'clock he awoke, complaining of severe pain over the region of the heart…and ceased to breathe at 10.35…."
