(James Garfield) (1831-1881) 20th President. 6 ¼" x 8" black bordered, printed broadside, "THE LAST BULLETIN, Elberon, N.J., Sept. 19, 11.30 P. M. The President died at 10.35. After the bulletin was issued at half-past five this evening, the President continued in much the same condition as during the afternoon, the pulse varying from 102 to 106…he fell into a quiet sleep about thirty-five minutes before his death…At ten minutes after ten o'clock he awoke, complaining of severe pain over the region of the heart…and ceased to breathe at 10.35…." Double matted with an engraving and framed to 18" x 13"
