Author: William Augustus Henderson
Publisher: W. and J. Stratford
Printing Year: c1793
Condition/Details: Bound in three-quarter pattern boards, this antique volume is a scarce early cookbook, including instructions for such antique delights as Calf's-Foot Pudding, Hares, and Fever Water, as well as turtle guts prepared in the West Indies manner. The work, which is a probable first edition, is beautifully typeset with fancy fonts and ligatures. The volume shows significant external wear, with a fully detached front board and shaken rear board. Most of the spine is lacking, and a few of the signatures are separated. The pages are all intact and clear with mild age toning; the volume includes an early owner's inscription and a few pencil markings. The book measures approximately 5.25" x 8.5" and contains 456 pages. Shipping cost (within the U.S.) for this lot will be: $4.50
