This is the iconic yellow jacket worn by Elvis Presley in "Viva Las Vegas" (MGM, 1964). He is wearing it while he sings the song "What'd I Say" to a wriggling, yellow-clad Ann-Margaret while both are surrounded by a crowd of energetic, dancing young people. The story of how Jacksonville disc jockey Jim Shirah (our consignor's brother) got this jacket directly from Elvis is a collector’s dream. On a visit to Graceland in 1968, as he was leaving and saying his farewells, he asked Elvis on the spur of the moment for a memento of any kind. In his generosity, Elvis took a golf cart back up to his house and returned in 15 minutes. He brought back several items, including this yellow jacket, and gave them all to him.
