in 25 vol., vignette title, 57 portrait plates including frontispiece, 12 views, double-page plan of Plymouth and 80 double-page maps with decorative borders and vignette illustrations, engraved maps with original hand-colouring in outline, each c.270 x 350mm., occasional slight browning, spotting and surface dirt, some edges a little frayed, Syria with a large tear, without loss, British Isles also with a short tear at upper edge and slight split on central fold, a few leaves working loose, uniform contemporary blind- and gilt-embossed green cloth, rubbed, occasionally worn, spines sunned and occasionally split, a few joints cracked, 4to., J. & F. Tallis, [1852-56].
