Description
A FINE FEDERAL INLAID MAHOGANY FOUR POSTER BEDSTEAD, New England, possibly Massachusettes, circa 1800, the baluster form reeded footboard posts with foliate carved capitals and base on vasiform pedestals with spread winged eagles centering the American Shield and flanked by the American flag, above a collar of carved leaves, on a circular socle raised on tapering rectangular legs with conforming maple and ebonized wood string inlay ending in checker and line inlaid crossbanded cuffs, the rectangular red painted headboard flanked by conforming posts. Appears to retain its original red paint. Height: 76 3/8", width: 56", length: 84 3/4".
