Rare Tennessee grain painted rope bed with red wash and black feathering, Grainger Co., Tennessee. Cannonball turned finials and turned feet. Primary wood - Tulip poplar. Provenance - purchased from Nance family of Nance's Ferry on the Holston River. This bed is illustrated in Art & Furniture of East Tennessee, Namuni Hale Young, p. 56, figure 102. Condition - wear to paint commensurate with age, overall very good condition. 48" height x 56 3/4" width x 81" length (set up). Circa 1820-40.
