East Tennessee earthenware cream pot with lead glaze, attributed to the Cain pottery of Sullivan County, TN. Found in Kingsport, TN. Two incised lines around shoulder, slightly flared rim, footed base. Characteristics of the glaze including the roughness in areas and oily sheen of the glaze in areas are characteristics of cream pots from the Cain pottery. Condition - overall excellent with possible glaze flaw to rim top where there is a small area absent of glaze, minor exfoliation of glaze to interior, residue in interior. 5 3/4" height. 19th century.
