Rare Middle Tennessee stoneware jar, impressed mark "JAMES LAFEVER MAKER" near base. Incised "4" near shoulder, denoting gallon capacity, incised line around upper shoulder, Albany slip glazed interior, remains of handle terminus. Condition - handle missing with handle terminus remaining, indicating a pulled handle. 17 1/2" height. Early 20th century. Stamped James Lafever forms are uncommon.
