Large Wythe County, Virginia buttocks basket. Descended from the Nelson family of Cove Road, Wythe County, VA. Old patina with evidence of fire on underside lobes. Condition - minor breaks of weavers in lobe areas of basket, very good condition for age. 13 1/2" height, 14 1/2" width, 18" length lobe to lobe. Late 19th century. Hearn estate.
