Two large horse lithographic prints. 1st horse print titled " Monarque " and French inscription, "Par The Baron Sting on the Emperor et Poetess par Royal Oak et. Ada par Whisker Vainqueur de 23 courses. Deby et grand Saint Liger Francais Derby de Gand en 1855. Goodwood cup & grand prix Imperial en 1857. New Market Handicap 1858. " additional inscriptions "Imprime & public par Coupil & Cie Editeurs a Paris" and "maison & Londres. 17. Southampton Street, Strand." Very good condition with a few light brown spots to margins, couple of minor creases to lower right margin. Print sight 23 3/4" x 30 1/4", frame 26" x 32 1/2". 19th century. 2nd print - titled " Gladiateur " and English inscription, "Winner of the Clearwell Stakes, Newmarket 1864, the 2000 Guineas Newmarket, the Derby Stakes at Epsom, value L 6825 (British pounds), the Grand Prix de Paris 1865." On lower left margin of print, "Painted and Engraved" and on lower right margin, "By Charles Hunt & Son". Condition - line with browning extends vertically through the print and has a crease extending half way through the print near the hindquarters, some light browning above head of horse, old water stain near bottom of print at border margin. Print sight 22 3/4" x 28 1/4", frame, 24 3/4" x 30 1/2". 19th century. Both prints with contemporary frames. Family notes state in 1928 Margaret Warden bought Gladiateur in England and Monarque in Paris. Lindsley Warden estate.
