Author: Joel Chandler Harris
Publisher: D. Appleton and Co.
Printing Year: 1881 First Edition
Condition/Details: Bound in blue cloth with bright gilt embossing, this antique volume is a very scarce first edition of Harris' famous collection of Southern Black American moral stories and oral folklore. Page 9 includes an early error -- "presumptive" instead of "presumptuous"; this is an indication of the book's early state. The volume shows advanced wear, with a detached front board, nearly detached rear board, some loss of the spine, and shaken signatures. The book appears to be otherwise intact and complete, with clear, mildly age toned pages. The book measures approximately 5" x 7.5" and contains 231 numbered pages. Shipping cost (within the U.S.) for this lot will be: $4.50
