ILLUMINATED MANUSCRIPT COMPOSITE MINIATURE, France, 15th century. A full-page miniature of the Annunciation.,in composite

7 vellum pieces pasted together (130 x 92 mm. overall) on an early paper backing sheet (17.5 x 124 mm). Gilt frame. This miniature shows the Annunciation to the Virgin. The Virgin knees in the left of the picture plane wearing a long blue robe highlighted in gold. The Angel Gabriel appears to her on the right wearing a white smock with a long golden mantle. The background behind them has been made up with a cutting of decorated border from another manuscript.
