Engraved title with portrait of the author on the verso, engraved coat-of-arms, 132 full-page engraved illustrations (including 3 repeats as issued, and without 'Tabula XX' in vol.I, ?as issued). Old vellum, yapp fore-edges. Condition: outer blank margin of title somewhat tattered, marginal worming to leaves to A4, some general browning and occasional old dampstaining; ties lacking, soiled. Provenance: early inscription, dated 1617; ?Vologer (early signature). first edition of one the best anatomical works of the period. It includes, in a single volume, revised versions of all of Bauhin's earlier work together with illustrations based on various earlier sources: Vesalius, Valverde, Eustachius, Coiter, etc. This copy does not include the the "Appendix" which was isssued in 1600, but is sometimes found bound in.
