Although unsigned, LeBlanc never signed any of his work.Beat Generation artist Peter LeBlanc is best known for his portrait series of famous beat poets. This original artwork first appeared in print in City Lights Journal No. 2 (1964), page 139. Page 5 states "The sumi ink painting of Allen Ginsberg by Peter Le Blanc is from the collection of Margot Patterson Doss." "I bought the painting from Peter at a time when he needed money to pursue a young woman he described as a Polish noblewoman, with whom he was infatuated, after her parents took her home to New York…Some years ago I permitted Peter (again in need of cash) to photograph and make lithograph prints of the work, which were sold through Muldoon Elder's gallery" – in a September 9, 1994 letter by Margot Doss to Tony Angiletta, Director of Collections at Stanford University, of which a copy is included. Also, includes a set of City Lights Journal Nos. 1-3 (1963-66, #1 a Review Copy), pictorial wrappers. Provenance: John and Margot Patterson Doss.
