Cincinnati, New York & London: Strobridge Lith. Co., [n.d. but c.1890?]. Massive 9-sheet "barnside" chromolithographed poster, in 3 panels (2100 x 960 mm). Condition: in need of linen-backing and restoration, with numerous short tears and abrasions. A rare large-format advertising poster for a stage performance based on Harriet Beecher Stowe's Uncle Tom's Cabin, first published in 1852. Strobridge was the premier chromolithographer for theatrical posters at the end of the 19th century and pioneered these massive outdoor advertising pieces.
