SLAVE SALE BROADSIDE. Administrator's Sale. By virtue of an order of the Probate Court of Hinds County, made at the December Term, 1853, the undersigned will sell to the higest bidder, on a credit of six months, the following property of the estate of Joseph Spengler, deceased: Negro man Henry; negro lad George; negro boy William ... Said sale to take place at the Steam Saw Mill, in Jackson, On the 16th day of January, 1854.
Raymond, MS: Hinds County Gazette Print, 10 December 1853. Broadside (410 x 330 mm). Signed in print by Hubert Spengler. Condition: folds, minor foxing and offsetting, a few holes, tears and separations. large broadside advertising a slave sale in mississippi. Besides the above named slaves, the broadside also lists other material being offered in the auction: "a large lot of lumber; about two tons of old iron, wrought and cast; two carry-logs; two waggons and one cart; a sett [sic] of Blacksmith Tools; a smal Fire Engine ... [etc.]." This broadside unlisted in OCLC or Hummel.
