SLAVE SALE BROADSIDE. Administrator's Sale of Slaves ... A negro woman named Hannah, aged about twenty-eight years.
Liberty [MO]: 6 January 1860. Broadside (370 x 240 mm). Signed in print by John F. Whitaker and Thomas Chandler. Contemporary manuscript correction. Condition: loss to the lower left corner (not affecting text), small hole affecting a few letters. a missouri frontier slave sale broadside. Clay County Missouri would be among the most pro-slavery counties in the border state during the Civil War. Indeed, in the 1860 election, not a single vote in the county was cast for Abraham Lincoln. This broadside appears to be unrecorded.
