MISSISSIPPI - W. A. LAKE. To the Voters of the Fourth Congressional District of Mississippi.

(contemporary signature in the upper margin). unrecorded mississippi confederate broadside and a rare piece of confederate election ephemera. The speech calls for strong resistance to the Union army, praises the success at Manassas and suggests means to raise money to fund the war. Two months after this broadside, on 15 October 1861, Lake would be killed in a duel with his opponent in this race. Not listed in Parrish & Willingham or Hummel.Images
