Impressive display of eight sequential black and white original NASA photos of the launch at Wallops Island, VA of the monkey, 'Sam' on this first Little Joe animal flight. The flight was an early test of the Mercury capsule and returned from an altitude of 53 miles with its passenger intact. This display, contains 8 black & white original 7¾"x15" vertical format photos glued to a board & wood framed to 19½"x73½". Three of the photos have some corner damage, there is some ivory toning of the wooden 'matte' background. Scarce photodocumentation of launch sequence of this early Mercury forerunner flight from the personal collection of one of the early NASA project engineers. Ex-Rodney G. Rose collection.
