1966 FLOWN HEAT SHIELD

A 1.5"x2" heat shield piece mounted in a clear 4.5" long Gemini spacecraft shaped Lucite display. The spacecraft is mounted on a 7" rounded wooden triangle base. There is a plaque on the base that reads 'Heatshield of Gemini VIII. 1st Docking in Space. N. Armstrong and D. Scott. March 16, 1966'. There is some minor yellowing to the Lucite, but no cracks of any sort. Base has expected wear after 40 years. Very nice piece.
