Sokol (Falcon) KV-1 spacesuit with Soyuz-Apollo/Apollo-Soyuz patches dated July 15-19, 1975 & nametag of cosmonaut Alexei Leonov (in both Latin & Cyrillic lettering). Leonov was commander of the Soyuz spaceship during the historic Apollo Soyuz Test Project. It is unknown whether this particular spacesuit was flown or not. This Sokol KV-1 pressure suit is made of white nylon canvas with royal blue trim, attached pressurized hood with hinged plastic visor securing to blue anodized aluminum clavicle flange, trussed sleeves with adjustable articulating cables in upper arm & webbed belt lashings, pressure gauge on left sleeve, detachable gloves, full lace up front, lace up crotch with triangular pocket, anodized aluminum umbilical interfaces on body for electrical, air & coolant lines with attached cables & hoses, pressure equalization valve below heart, support sling wrapping from chest to back by means of webbed belts & metal clips, metrically calibrated webbed straps attached to metal rings on side seams & along crotch, pleated knees, two utility pockets on each leg, boots of same material laced on at knee; rubberized cloth lining; with applique patches of Soviet standard (left sleeve) & of the Soyuz-Apollo joint-mission logo (right sleeve), bilingual name label; accompanied by gray leather (ShL-7AP) radio headset with mesh skullcap. ASTP was a visionary political act. Initiated by treaty between the U.S. & the USSR in 1972, the link-up of U.S. & Russian spaceships, with a common goal of shared science & exploration, was an idea that changed the world. This suit was exhibited at Macy's (NYC) in 2000 and Mall of America (Minnesota) in 1996. A wonderful piece of space exploration history.
