Outstanding lot of 12 cosmonaut collectibles. Eight 4¼"x6¼" trinket boxes with Yuri Gagarin's portrait on each of their tops. Each one has the Russian inscription inside that reads, 'Museum of Cosmonautics. Moscow. April 12, 2001.' April 12 is known as the Russian Day of Cosmonautics. Additionally, there are four boxes of presentation books of matches with portraits of the first Regiment of Cosmonauts. Interestingly enough, the set names all 20 members of the regiment, including eight of them who have never flown. These cosmonauts are practically unknown to the public: Anikeyev, Bonolarenko, Varlamov, Zaikin, Kartashov, Nelyubov, Rafikov, and Filatyer. Great lot for dealers as well as cosmonaut enthusiasts.
