Edgar Tolson. Sodom and Gomorrah

c. 1980. Model airplane paint & radiator paint on wood with small stones. One of the figures has been painted white, having turned to stone because of looking back on the city of Sodom. Excellent condition. Signed on the bottom. 16" x 11.5" x 14". Illustrated in The Museum of American Folk Art Encyclopedia of 20th Century Folk Art and Artists, p. 303, as well as in The Temptation: Edgar Tolson and the Genesis of 20th Century Folk Art by Julia Ardery, p. 147.
