NASA Mariner IV Satellite Model (6x12") 1/8 scale model of the Mariner IV satellite. Mounted on a heavy steel plate, this model comes with a custom steel protective case. The 'solar panels' fold out. Although missing the dish antenna and outer solar panels, this is still a remarkable and spectacular model. Mariner 4 was the first spacecraft to obtain and transmit close range images of Mars, passing within 9844 kilometers of the red planet on July 14, 1965. Good condition with some faults. The steel case bears a NASA stamp "NASA-KSC 73 Inv". Rare.
