1945//1961, 4 Rocket, Missile, Space and Aviation Books 1957, "The Complete Book of Jets and Rockets" (160pp, hard cover), a laymans introduction to propulsion, jets and rockets. 1959, "Principles of Guided Missiles and Nuclear Weapons", (284pp, soft cover), a brief introduction to the basic principles that govern the design, construction, and use of guided missiles. 1945, "The Coming of Age of Rocket Power", (144pp, hard cover), a history of the development and deployment of rockets. 1961, "Aviation and Space Dictionary", (445 pp, hard cover), a compilation of space and aviation terms of the time. A great example is their definition of an Airline Stewardess as "young women acting as part of the regular crew on most of the major airlines. The personal qualifications … she must be a clean cut, clear-thinking person, adept in dealing with people, not too retiring nor too forward. The technical qualifications of a stewardess are 1) she must be a graduate and registered nurse in good standing, 2) must be between 21 and 26 years of age, 3) not more than 5'5" tall, 4) have a minimum weight of 105 and a maximum weight of 120 pounds which shall be in proportion to height, 5) must not be married although there are some exceptions". All books have some faults, which do not detract from this compelling reading.
