Gus Grissom's "Anti-Blackout Cutaway, Type Z3" Pressure Pants This partial pressure garment was designed to be worn on the small of the back and the legs. As g-forces built up, this suit increased the pressure on the pilot's circulatory system, thus reducing blood flow to the lower extremities and maintaining blood pressure in the brain. All pilots of high performance jets wore these but THESE belonged to, and were worn by, astronaut Gus Grissom during his test pilot and early NASA days. The only documentation to this is what can come from this auction house but we guarantee these completely. A great item of test equipment worn by one of the most important of the early astronauts.
