Photographs from the Boeing C-135 "Vomit Comet" An incredible group of 54 different color and black-and-white (8x10") photographs from the Boeing C-135 Zero Gravity Trainer, used to fly parabolas to investigate the effects of "zero" gravity. This aircraft, officially designated the NASA 930, is operated by the Johnson Space Center's Reduced Gravity Office in Houston, Texas. To her crew, she's the "Weightless Wonder", to her passengers, she's the "Vomit Comet" as a result of the airsickness that many of them experienced. This lot has several photographs of Armstrong, McDivitt and White during their zero-G training along with reporter Hugh Downs. A seldom seen inside look at an important element of astronaut training.
